Please make a note: We are planning a ‘big Beetle meet-up’ during the Classic Days! The anniversary celebrates the beginnings of the civilian VW Beetle, which was built in Wolfsburg from 1945 onwards.

In the years before the war began, KdF cars were to be built in the new factory in Wolfsburg from 1938/1939 onwards – but KdF savers were hardly ever delivered their vehicles, and production was switched relatively quickly to Kübelwagen and front-line vehicles.

It was only in 1945, after the end of the war, that the British began to allow vehicle production to resume at the factory, which was still scarred by war damage. This marked the beginning – as we would see it – of the true story of a ‘Volkswagen’ that then brought mobility back to (almost) everyone in an entire country.

This 80th anniversary is worth celebrating – the diversity can be enormous. We are therefore calling for a large gathering.

The most important points:

  • Large VW Beetle meet-up (all model years!) – unfortunately not including the New Beetle yet… (we’ll have to wait until 2027 = 30 years).
  • Dedicated Beetle parking area at Classic Days … for individual visitors and clubs (which can register and reserve spaces via club registration).
  • We are creating a large open-air beetle area on meadows at the festival next to Kastanien-Allee at Rittergut Birkhof.
  • Special run with the participation of as many visitor Beetles as possible on the 2.6 km circuit… perhaps it will be an almost endless ‘Beetle caravan’! Every Saturday and Sunday during the Classic Days
  • Classic Days gift for every team/vehicle: Limited edition commemorative key ring ‘80 years of the VW Beetle at Classic Days’ – only for Beetle teams as a gift
  • Gifts from the Autostadt in Wolfsburg (sponges & Autostadt pens)
  • Special themes & special trips featuring unusual Beetle collectibles, such as the VW W30 from the Grundmann Collection, the first post-war Beetle built in 1945 from the Autostadt Time House, Hebmüller models from the Gottfried Schultz/Radermacher family collection, etc. Telecommunications Beetles and much more…

We will direct all visitors with Beetles to the large car park area in the classic car parking zone. The complimentary gifts will be available either at the entrance to the car park or at the Classic Days shop tent upon presentation of your vehicle registration document.

A highlight as an exhibit but also on the road will certainly be the VW W30 prototype from the Grundmann collection in Hessisch-Oldendorf. It will be on display for the first time at our event.

The big Beetle caravan will set off at around 2 p.m. Our helpers will guide the vehicles from the classic car and club car parks onto the circuit. Maybe we can even create a 2.6 km long Beetle caravan?
